Key processes for HCV clients

The most important workflows you'll need to manage as a voucher holder.

01

Finding & leasing a unit

Search for a home, confirm your landlord accepts HCV, request an inspection, and sign your lease once the unit passes.

02

Annual recertification

Every year, confirm your income and household details to keep your voucher active. We'll contact you with forms and deadlines.

03

Moving with your voucher

Planning to move? Notify EBRPHA before giving notice to your landlord. Portability lets you take your voucher to another jurisdiction.

04

Portability transfers

If you need to move outside EBR Parish, we'll coordinate a portability transfer with the receiving housing authority.

FAQ

Voucher client questions

Common questions from current HCV clients.

Contact a specialist

Report income changes to EBRPHA as soon as they happen — don't wait for your annual recertification. Changes affect your rent calculation, and unreported changes may result in repayment or termination of assistance.

Submit a Request to Move form to EBRPHA before giving notice to your landlord. After EBRPHA approves the move, you'll receive a new voucher with a search deadline. Do not give notice until your move is approved.

Portability allows you to use your voucher in another housing authority's jurisdiction. Notify your EBRPHA specialist before making any plans to move out of EBR Parish — we'll coordinate the transfer with the receiving authority.

Missing your recertification deadline can result in termination of your housing assistance. If you're having trouble completing the process, contact your specialist as early as possible — we can often work with you to avoid a lapse.

Yes, but you must request approval from EBRPHA before adding anyone to your household. Unauthorized occupants can put your voucher at risk. Submit a household change request through the portal or contact your specialist directly.
